I was up a couple of Saturdays ago and saw the infomercial Snuggie for Kids. This is a cute and helpful product, but I can't get past the name. Among my crowd, “snuggie” is another word for “wedgie.” And you just don't want to tell a kid you're giving him or her a wedgie for Christmas.

But the concept here is a good one: It's basically a kid-sized blanket, but with sleeves, so the kid can wear it. Okay, I buy that concept; I even like it. But can we use kids in the commercial who actually behave like real kids? Maybe the problem is they need to have adults producing the commercial who actually have kids.

Case in point: All through the ad, we have these 11 or 12 year old boys dancing the most ridiculous dances. I remember when I was that age—and trust me, for a 12 year old boy, dancing is just not cool.

And juggling? What 12 year old boy juggles? Oh maybe a few try—but not successfully. Certainly I would never imagine seeing a kid sliding down a slide in a blanket, so why would they do it in a Wedgie—I mean Snuggie?

I suppose what I'm saying is that Snuggie for Kids is a great product, one I wouldn't mid buying my kid for Christmas, but that they're over-sold it. Using it for lounging around on a chilly day, absolutely. My kids would do that. But putting on a concert for the family, as in the ad? Doubtful.

Snuggies for kids offers comfort from the chill. Its a good idea to also add kids characters such as batman and spiderman.

Lizum that's actually a great idea. I wonder why they don't do that. Yesterday, while I was holiday shopping I saw 2 other non-branded name snuggie products. I guess the blanket with sleeves really sells!
